WWE Releases NXT Wrestler

WWE recently came to terms on the release of Lovepreet Singh, who wrestled in NXT under the name Kishan Raftar.

Singh’s last match took place in February and he quietly parted ways with WWE sometime since then. It’s unclear whether WWE cut Singh or he decided to leave the organization on his own.

Singh was one of two ‘premiere athletes’ from India to join the WWE Performance Center in June 2015; the other being Satender Ved Pal, who currently wrestles in NXT under the name Jeet Rama. WWE hyped their arrival to the Performance Center in a press release.

His arrival to the Performance Center was documented on the short-lived WWE Network show, Breaking Ground.

Singh joined WWE from Kabaddi, a sport with origins in ancient India. The 6-foot, 225-pound Singh was one of the top raiders in the World Kabaddi League in 2014 and a member of the team that won the league championship.

After making his NXT in-ring debut in a battle royal on September 26, 2015, Singh would not wrestle again until January 15, 2016. Before thousands of fans at a WWE live event in India, Singh, now known as Kishan Raftar, beat Jason Jordan in his singles debut. He then beat Chad Gable the following night. Later that same night, Raftar and Rama beat Jordan and Gable in a tag team match.

That two-day tour was the extent of Raftar’s success in WWE as he usually lost at NXT live events. His appearances were rare as over the course of the next two years, he only wrestled about 25 more matches. He never worked a match on NXT television.

In his last brush with success, Raftar teamed up with Rama to beat Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas at WWE’s heavily hyped live event in India last December.
