Major Name Debuts At NXT Takeover: Unstoppable

Samoa Joe

Former TNA World Heavyweight Champion Samoa Joe made his NXT debut Wednesday night during NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable on the WWE Network.

During the main event, which featured Kevin Owens defending the NXT Championship against Sami Zayn, Owens would hit Zayn with a Powerbomb on the ring apron. He would then begin viciously attacking Zayn, causing NXT officials to come out and stop the bout.

This wouldn’t stop Owens from attacking Zayn, however. NXT officials couldn’t stop Owens from getting a chair, and attempting to take Zayn out of action for good. Before he could finish off his long-time friend/foe however, Owens would be stopped by the sound of new entrance music.

Samoa Joe would then appear, stopping Owens in his tracks. After a quick stare down between the two grapplers, Owens would storm off towards the backstage area, saying that NXT is his house. Joe would then appease to the crowd, gaining a rave reaction from the crowd.

Owens would emerge only to say that he “did what he came to do,” and that he wouldn’t be fighting Joe during NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable.

As previously reported, Joe had been rumored to debut during the NXT special. Triple H had confirmed that he had been visiting the WWE Performance Center, but would not confirm Joe’s involvement with the brand.

Joe is being billed as the “Submission Specialist.”
