More Details On WWE's New Television Show - To Feature First Run Content

As noted this morning, WGN issued a press release toting the brand new "WWE Superstars" series that will debut in April on WGN America. Here is what is known regarding this brand new WWE television show:
- The show will be one hour long and air every Thursday night at 8:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. EST on WGN America. Of course this means the show will air one hour before TNA Impact on Spike TV, not to mention right after the conclusion of Impact. A replay of the show will also air every Saturday at midday.
- You can expect to see the show for a while as WWE and WGN have signed a two-year deal for the program.
- Regarding the actual content of the show, it looks like it will be a showcase for the mid to low end performers of WWE who have trouble getting on Raw, SmackDown and ECW (such as D-Lo Brown, Scotty Goldman, Ricky Ortiz, Goldust, Jamie Noble, etc...). 'WWE Superstars' is being billed as a "first run" series, indicating it will not be a recap/magazine style of show, which pretty much leaves it being a program featuring all-new matches. Also, the show will feature Superstars and Divas from all three brands, so it won't be a brand exclusive show such as Heat and Velocity.
-- WGN's parent company The Tribune Co. is paying a licensing fee to WWE for the show.
Broadcasting and Cable has an article today covering the new series, which you can read at the following link.
