Rumored Card For WrestleMania 34

WrestleMania 34 hits New Orleans in a little over two months and there’s already one match confirmed for WWE’s biggest show of the year: AJ Styles defending the WWE Championship against Shinsuke Nakamura.

It has been known for a while that Brock Lesnar will defend the Universal Championship against Roman Reigns. Following the Royal Rumble, WWE has big plans for Ronda Rousey, although those aren’t as clear.

So with the two top world title matches seemingly locked in, where does that leave the rest of the card?

According to a report in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer shared what he is told is the current direction for the majority of this year’s WrestleMania card. There is Styles vs. Nakamura for the WWE Championship, of course, and Reigns vs. Lesnar.

Meltzer also says that John Cena will most likely face The Undertaker, but speculates that there is a chance The Deadman could back out of wrestling. Given Cena is in the Elimination Chamber Match, WWE would not be able to begin building to Taker vs. Cena until late February.

Meltzer also hears that Kurt Angle could be a partner for Rousey in a mixed tag team match against Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, as Angle vs. Triple H was a storyline they were strongly hinting at around Survivor Series. The original idea was for Rousey for team up with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, but that may not be possible since there are insurance reasons with movies he’s committed to that may not allow Rock to do a match. This is the main reason why he hasn’t wrestled a serious match since 2013 at WrestleMania 29.

Other matches heavily talked about recently would be the respective women’s title matches, with Alexa Bliss and Nia Jax facing off in a Raw Women’s Championship Match, and Asuka challenging Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. That was WWE’s idea as of Royal Rumble weekend.

There will be one, if not two Battle Royals (one for men and one for women), to get as many wrestlers possible on WrestleMania.

There looked to be a Jason Jordan vs. Seth Rollins direction but nothing regarding Jordan can be locked in right now due to various injuries he’s dealing with.

It was announced this past Tuesday on 205 Live that a 16-man Cruiserweight Championship Tournament is being held with a new champion to be crowned at WrestleMania.

Finally, WWE plans on having The Miz defend the Intercontinental Championship against Braun Strowman.

WrestleMania 34 takes place on Sunday, April 8, 2018, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana and will be streamed live around the world on the WWE Network.
