Rumors on Rey Mysterio Returning to WWE This Year

– Mexico’s AAA promotion is dealing with major pay issues right now and apparently Rey Mysterio, who last appeared for them in December, is done, according to Raj Giri of WrestlingINC. Rey is reportedly done with AAA due to the late pay and the corporate disorganization but would return if they pay what they owe and offer him guaranteed creative control.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported this week that there could be something to Konnan saying on a recent podcast that Mysterio is open to working a part-time schedule with WWE. Konnan noted that Rey couldn’t go back and work full-time like Alberto Del Rio is doing. The Observer reported that sources close to the situation believe there are issues that could enable Rey to also get out of his Lucha Underground deal and return to WWE.

It was also noted that Rey has friends in WWE who believe he won’t last long with Lucha Underground and will return to WWE. Rey’s issues are said to be money and creative control, which also led to Del Rio leaving and returning to WWE.
