Rusev Reportedly Injured

Rusev

Rusev is out of action with a knee injury. This is according to Dave Meltzer on the post-Raw edition of Wrestling Observer Radio.

The injury occurred at the house show in Bossier City, Louisiana on Saturday night where he lost to Ryback. Meltzer believes it is minor since it was not obvious to fans at the event, and there’s a chance that “The Bulgarian Brute” may compete in the 2016 Royal Rumble Match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Rusev has proved to be injury prone in the past. He missed time last spring with a leg injury, which also occurred in a match he had against Ryback. He returned in the summer, but then went out injured again in the fall, after suffering a biceps injury. He also suffered a broken neck in the the summer of 2012, temporarily paralyzing his arm (he was in WWE’s development system at the time). Those injuries forced him out of the ring until February 2013.

His latest injury won’t be too much of a blow to WWE since they didn’t have much going on with him other than his League Of Nations role. Meltzer actually joked that Rusev was better off injured than being at Raw, where the League Of Nations were being made to look like losers and getting destroyed by Brock Lesnar.

While the WWE injury list is certainly adding up, only the losses of John Cena and Seth Rollins have been real blows to WWE. Rusev is an interchangeable midcard heel these days, and fans barely even noticed his absence on Raw.
