Speculation on How TNA Might Get Around the Cody Rhodes Name Issue

As noted, it appears Cody Rhodes will be introduced on tonight’s TNA Impact Wrestling episode and TNA has already announced that his wife Brandi Rhodes is coming to wrestle in the Knockouts division.

Brandi using the Rhodes name is notable because Cody cannot use that name in TNA or ROH, at least for now. WWE registered to trademark the Cody Rhodes name and were able to as he did not use it before working for them. WWE never registered Brandi Rhodes and she never used that name in WWE, so she’s able to use it anywhere.

There’s speculation that TNA will get by the Cody name issue by announcing them as Cody & Brandi Rhodes. At last word, Cody was going to just use the name “Cody” on TV. We’ve noted before that Cody wanted to work a feud against Mike Bennett and Maria Kanellis.
