Don't let Justin Gabriel's boyish good looks fool you. He was actually one of the most dangerous competitors in WWE, complete with a repertoire that features lightening-fast speed and amazing aerial skills.

Following his run on WWE NXT, Gabriel joined the show's other Rookies to form The Nexus. While in the renegade faction, the South African native teamed with Heath Slater to defeat fellow Nexus members David Otunga and John Cena for the WWE Tag Team Championship. In reality, though, the titles were essentially handed to Gabriel and Slater after Nexus leader Wade Barrett ordered Otunga to lose.

When Barrett was replaced as head of The Nexus in January 2011, Gabriel and Slater followed him to SmackDown, where they formed The Corre. While members of the new faction, Gabriel and Slater went on to claim the WWE Tag Team Championship two more times. But after a series of losses to Jimmy and Jey Uso in the summer of 2011, a frustrated Slater turned on his partner. The betrayal had little impact on Gabriel, who quickly gained revenge by beating his former tag team partner on SmackDown. (Photo Gallery »)

Last week, former WWE Tag Team Champion Justin Gabriel quit WWE after more than a half-decade with the company. It was a surprising news based on its timing, but one that was not all that unexpected by many within the company.

According to a new report from PWInsider, his departure boils down to his frustrations with booking.

The outlet claims he grew upset with not being utilized on television, only appearing on shows like “Main Event,” “Superstars” and “NXT.” Because of such, he realized there were no long-term plans for his character, and he requested his release.

However, it was said there was much shuffling going on with the Royal Rumble match this past Sunday, and he was eventually pulled from it. It is believed this was the last straw of a sort for him, which led to him picking up and leaving.

Barely after quitting, Gabriel had signed on with Pro Wrestling Syndicate, one of the northeast’s largest independent companies. He will be wrestling under the name “PJ Black” from hereon out, and is advertised for a “Suicidal Six-Way” match at its upcoming show this Saturday.
