The Prime Time Players Make A Reference To Darren Young Being Gay On SmackDown

Darren Young

In August 2013, Darren Young became the first openly gay WWE Superstar when he revealed his sexuality to a TMZ reporter at Los Angeles International Airport.

“All the support that I’ve got from my WWE family, the WWE Superstars, and my family has been incredible,“ Young said on a September 2013 episode of Ellen.

While Young is open about his sexuality, it had not even been alluded to on WWE programming until recently. On Thursday’s episode of SmackDown, both Young and tag team partner Titus O’Neil made a subtle reference to him being gay.

Titus O’Neil: Anybody who’s been watching the WWE over the past few weeks has seen somewhat of a coming out party from the Prime Time Players.

Darren Young: Big man my coming out party was last summer, remember?

Titus O’Neil: No, no, man! Your coming out party was last summer and you should be proud just like we gon’ be proud to get rid of The New Day!
