Update On Melina’s Lucha Underground Status, Was She Ditched Due To Attitude Issue?

Melina

Melina’s recent split with Lucha Underground was not due to an attitude issue, according to ProWrestlingSheet.com. Ryan Satin reports that she only agreed to appear for the promotion one time.

Sources within Lucha Underground say producers attempted to lock the former WWE Diva down to a long-term contract, but she would only agree to appear on the finale of the first season.

Both sides agreed to leave the door open for season two, but once storylines were in place, producers had decided to go in a different direction than they had initially planned with Johnny Mundo (formerly known as John Morrison in WWE).

Producers wanted to involve Melina further, but both sides couldn’t reach an agreement. Sources say reports she was replaced by Taya Valkyrie for being difficult to work with are not true.

The rumor can be attributed to Dave Meltzer, who claimed Wednesday night in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Melina “was said to be extremely difficult to deal with.”

Responding to this allegation, Melina took to Twitter to defend herself;

I love wrestling,but I never thought I’d see this much crazy from people where they’d start rumors & such,long after I’ve stopped wrestling. During my career, All I wanted was to be around people that loved what I loved and make magic with them. I’m not even in wrestling anymore and people still keep fabricating stories of this evil, villain of a woman. It’s awesome to think my onscreen character was that convincing,but in actuality… That’s just crazy!

Melina added that she’s retired and that she only entertained the idea of appearing for Lucha Underground in order to work with her “LVE.” She noted that producers didn’t want them together since it had been done before in WWE. Sources tell ProWrestlingSheet.com that she’s telling the truth.

Melina thanked ProWrestlingSheet.com for “reporting the truth.”
