After being absent from WWE television for a few weeks, Mickie James reemerged this past week on Raw. Prior to Natalya’s match against Alicia Fox, Alexa Bliss brought James back into the fold and they stood in Fox’s corner, while Ronda Rousey and Trish Stratus backed up “The Queen of Harts.”
After Rousey and Stratus chased Bliss and James away from ringside, Natalya pounced with a discus clothesline and Sharpshooter to force the former Divas Champion to tap out.
On television, James’ absence was explained as being due to injury. With that being said, her absence was not a result of a creative decision to keep her off television, and it does not appear to be due to a legitimate injury.
According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, James was out of action due to a “minor issue.” He did not elaborate on her absence and whether it was injury-related.
Prior to Monday, James had not appeared on television since July 23. On that night, she beat Natalya on Raw.
James appeared at the following weekend’s live events, where she accompanied Bliss. On the July 30 episode of Raw, Bliss approached Fox backstage and said that since James is injured, she handpicked her to take her place in a match against Natalya. Rousey was at ringside to support Natalya in her match against Fox, who boasted Bliss in her own corner.

The following day, James addressed her whereabouts via Twitter, saying that she’ll “be back soon.”
