WWE May Be Reaching Out To Some Big Names After Seth Rollins Suffers A Major Knee Injury

Seth Rollins

The worst-case scenario for WWE and Seth Rollins was realized on Thursday as the 29-year-old is expected to be out of action for six to nine months after suffering a major knee injury on Wednesday at a live event in Dublin, Ireland.

With John Cena, Brock Lesnar and Randy Orton among the major stars on hiatus for various reasons at the moment, the timing of this injury could not be worse. One WWE source noted to F4WOnline.com that some phone calls are likely already being made to some ‘very big names.’

According to WWE.com and Jonathan Coachman of ESPN — the former WWE on-air personality was given the scoop on the news — Rollins tore his right ACL, MCL and medial meniscus.

The spot unfolded during a match against Kane, as Rollins attempted to flip him over from the top rope and deliver a powerbomb through a table. However, Rollins landed awkwardly on his right leg, causing a bad-looking twist. Rollins slumped down to the mat, but quickly regained his composure and successfully powerbombed Kane through the table. He then pinned Kane to end the match.

According to attendees, Rollins was carried out of the ring, which pointed to a serious injury or WWE simply taking a precaution not wanting to put pressure on the injured leg.

As a result of Rollins’ injury, he has been stripped of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. WWE has announced that tournament that will take place at the upcoming Survivor Series pay-per-view scheduled for Nov. 22, 2015, at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. Rollins was scheduled to defend the title at the event against Roman Reigns, who will assuredly be included in the tournament.

WWE has held a tournament at Survivor Series before, doing so back in 1998 with its Deadly Game event that saw The Rock turn heel, aligning with Vince McMahon in a recreation of the infamous Montreal Screwjob the year before.
