It could be a long time before we see Paige in a wrestling ring again.
As things stand now, there are no plans for Paige to return to WWE television, medically cleared or not, and the only reason she hasn’t been released from her contract is because Vince McMahon doesn’t want her appearing on Impact Wrestling when Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s movie about her family comes out.
Despite that, there is a growing faction in the corporate structure that feel McMahon should re-evaluate his position.
Earlier this year, a decision was made to remove her from the Total Divas cast when filming resumed last month. This has added friction to her relationship with Alberto El Patron as she blames him for costing her a spot on the show. With her only earning her downside guarantee from her WWE contract right now, the income from Total Divas became much more important than in previous years.
Many in WWE don’t want her back as long as she’s involved with El Patron. There was already a suspicion internally of her having drug issues and the recent accusation of cocaine possession only reinforced the company’s fear.
According to Wrestling Observer Newsletter editor Dave Meltzer, Paige’s contract with WWE doesn’t expire until April 2019.
