Some rumors went around SummerSlam weekend about Sasha Banks getting a negative reaction from fans. The stories varied, but it all seemed to go back to fans who had camped out for autographs at the hotel WWE stars were staying at in New York City and “The Boss” didnโt stop and sign for them.
As it would happen, Sasha addressed the issue indirectly during an appearance she recorded that week on Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast.
During the interview, Sam Roberts asked Banks if “she had worked on her airport face,” which is in reference to photos of Banks not looking too happy to be photographed at the airport with fans.
โYou want me to talk about how much I hate being bothered at an airport or hotels?โ Banks replied.
Banks admitted there was a difference between a six-year-old girl walking up to her and asking for an autograph and someone accosting her for a stack of autographs when sheโs at an airport.
โI grew up a wrestling fan, so I knew that I wanted to meet all my favorite wrestlers. But always in the back of my head I never thought in my life to be like, โHey, theyโre gonna fly in. Maybe I should wait at the airport for like 12 hours at a gate. Hey! They donโt want any sleep. Maybe Iโll go find their hotel theyโre staying at and let me bother them.โ
“Like to me, thatโs stalking. I donโt tweet out what hotel Iโm at. I donโt tweet out what airline Iโm flying. I do tweet you what arena Iโll be performing at, so I do expect fans at the arena, and Iโm so happy to sign at the arena, thatโs fine because Iโm telling you where Iโm going to be at. If I see you in public, thatโs fine.
“But when Iโm at an airport at four in the morning and I see somebody with a carry-on and they open it with a hundred items of everyone and theyโre bothering everybody to get an autograph, and I see it on eBay – thatโs not okay to me.โ
Later in the chat, Banks tells a story of flying home a day early due to injury and being met at the terminal by fans who got airline employees to tip them off about when she would be there.
โAnd there were fans at the airport with fans with stuff to sign and I was like, ‘Wait, how did you guys know what time I land and I was going to be here? They go, โOh we called the airport and asked if you were flying in anytime soon to give us a phone call.’โ
That didnโt sit too well with Banks and she told them to leave her alone.
