No. 1 Contender’s Match Scheduled For Tonight’s Raw Canceled – What WWE Might Do Instead

Two weeks ago, Kurt Angle sanctioned two Fatal 4-Way Matches to determine who would battle for the right to challenge WWE Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore. Rich Swann won the first and Drew Gulak prevailed in the second to each clinch their place in a No. 1 Contender’s Match where the winner would challenge Amore.

With Swann’s arrest over the weekend, the match between him and Gulak has been canceled.

All references to the match have been scrubbed from WWE.com’s Raw preview. WWE has yet to announce how Amore’s challenger will be determined.

As far as what might happen, Bryan Alvarez said last night on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE officials are considering having Hideo Itami make his main roster debut tonight on Raw against Gulak. If this doesn’t happen, WWE will likely hold a multi-Superstar match to determine the No. 1 Contender to the Cruiserweight Championship.

Either way, Itami is set to make his highly-anticipated WWE Cruiserweight division debut as the company has been running vignettes promoting his arrival to 205 Live.
