Neville

Adrian Neville

Born Benjamin Satterley on August 22, 1986, Neville is an English professional wrestler currently performing for WWE. He previously competed in NXT under the name Adrian Neville, and before that, grappled on the independent wrestling circuit as Pac. In WWE’s developmental branch, he is a former NXT Champion, with his 287-day reign currently standing as the longest in the championship’s history, and a two-time NXT Tag Team Champion, with his first reign being one-half of the inaugural champions (alongside Oliver Grey). He is he first and thus far only individual to have held both the NXT Championship and NXT Tag Team Championship.

Branded by WWE as “The Man That Gravity Forgot,” Satterley is heralded for his aerial-based in-ring style. He began wrestling in Northeast England for a small league, the Independent Wrestling Federation, and after establishing himself in the UK with organizations such as One Pro Wrestling and Real Quality Wrestling, he began to grapple overseas, most notably for the United States-based Ring of Honor, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG), and Chikara, the Italy-based Nu Wrestling Evolution, and the Japan-based Dragon Gate, where he has won the Twin Gate, Triangle and Open the Brave Championship in the latter company. He is a former PWG World Tag Team Champion, and winner of PWG’s inaugural Dynamite Duumvirate Tag Team Title Tournament (alongside Roderick Strong).

Neville Speaks Out On Rumors That WWE Was Going To Give Him A ‘Mighty Mouse’ Gimmick

WWE Superstar Neville

Prior to being brought up from NXT to the main WWE roster, there were rumors and reports stating that Adrian Neville was slated to enter WWE under the guise of a gimmick styled upon the classic cartoon character Mighty Mouse.

In a recent interview with The PodNasty Wrestling Podcast, Neville denies that he was ever pitched or booked for the Might Mouse gimmick.

“There’s no truth in [The Mighty Mouse rumors] actually.

“I guess I was just more surprised than anything. Sometimes you get the wildest things just pop up and that was one of those things that it was funny at the time I guess.”

Several media outlets reported on the proposed gimmick this past December. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Figure Four Weekly, and PWInsider all reported that a “Mighty Mouse style” re-packaging for Adrian Neville was in the cards as WWE scheduled Neville’s call-up from NXT.

Typically in wrestling, where there is smoke there is fire. Despite the denial from Neville on the proposed gimmick, it’s possible that it was something being tossed around internally without ever officially being pitched directly to Neville himself. The internal discussions are what likely leaked to the wrestling media outlets who initially reported the story back in December.

In his interview, Neville also discussed which wrestlers on the WWE roster he would like to work programs with in the future.

“I’d love to, at some point, mix it up with Cesaro. Cesaro’s a guy I’ve wrestled a few times in NXT and a guy who I’ve known for a long time. I feel like we certainly bring out the best in each other.

“Daniel Bryan is a guy I’d like to mix it up with at some point, Tyson Kidd Kevin Owens–you know we have a lot of history in NXT and he’s another guy I’ve known for a long time so there’s so many different options.”

Neville will be wrestling at Sunday’s WWE Money In The Bank pay-per-view show. He will take part in the traditional Money in the Bank ladder match alongside Roman Reigns, Dolph Ziggler, Randy Orton, Kofi Kingston, Sheamus, and Kane.
