John Cena Undergoes Emergency Surgery, Could Miss Several Weeks

According to a report from Justin LaBar of WrestleZone.com, WWE United States Champion John Cena had emergency nose surgery on Tuesday to correct some breathing issues, which were the result of a broken nose. Cena suffered the injury during the main event of Raw when WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins laid in a stiff shot to Cena’s face with his knee.

According to the report, Cena had surgery on Tuesday. WWE.com reported that Cena was rushed to a near-by emergency room in Oklahoma immediately following Raw to determine what would need to be done for the wrestler.

On top of the surgery that Cena underwent to correct his breathing problems, he will reportedly need some reconstructive procedures done as well. The medical advice for “The Champ” is for him to have the surgeries and stay out of the ring for several weeks.

This would dramatically change the landscape of WWE’s planned direction for SummerSlam on Aug. 23, if Cena does in fact take several weeks off. It seemed as if the company was leading to a WWE World Heavyweight Championship bout between Cena and Rollins at the annual Summer event.

One source told LaBar, when talking about Cena’s toughness and how long he’d actually need to be out to heal said, “It’s John Cena, you never know.”
