When Mauro Ranallo was missing from SmackDown LIVE last week, WWE announced on the air that weather permitted him from making the show. He had hinted that could happen on his Twitter, so it didnโt come as too much of a surprise.
Then Wrestling Observer Newsletter editor Dave Meltzer hinted that the reason given wasnโt true. It wasnโt reported what the actual issue was but Meltzer did say he didnโt miss the show for the reason WWE stated.
This weekโs episode of SmackDown LIVE opened with Tom Phillips saying Ranallo is once again out but this week the reason given was that heโs โout sick.โ He did not elaborate on this any further.
After not posting anything on social media since Mar. 14, and he tweeted this message.

According to Meltzer in this week’s issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Ranallo has been out of contact with people heโs known for years dating back to Mar. 13. Despite two of Ranalloโs closest friends saying to Meltzer that Ranallo is OK and resting up, Meltzer believes there is more to the story which he is working towards confirming.
Meltzer appeared to hint that Ranallo is dealing with depression. He noted that Ranallo has suffered from “terrible depression” dating back to being a teenager and missed an MMA event due to depression shortly before joining WWE.
