Paige’s Future In WWE Is “Up In The Air”

Paige’s future in WWE is up in the air right now. According to this week’s issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter — published on Wednesday — it is not a guarantee that she will wrestle for the company again.

She is currently serving a 30-day suspension for her violation of WWE’s talent wellness policy, which ends in less than two weeks.

In discussing and offering confirmation that boyfriend Alberto Del Rio gave notice to the company he was exercising an out clause in his contract, Mister Saint Laurent (MSL) also provided details backing the rumors WWE disliked Del Rio’s romance with fellow Superstar Paige.

Last week on his MLW Radio Network podcast with former wrestler Kevin Sullivan, MSL & Sullivan, Saint Laurent said the couple was “harassed” by a WWE official and alleged Paige’s job was threatened if she didn’t end the relationship:

I do know that Mark Carrano, who fans might know from Total Divas, kind of like the office liaison guy, approached Del Rio and Paige individually and harassed each of them about their relationship. It was indicated that the office wanted them to sever their romantic relationship.

A lot of people speculated “is this why the company split them up in the draft?” and that’s definitely what happened. The company did not want them together. They split them up in the draft by design and they threatened to fire Paige if she didn’t break up with Del Rio.

WWE has denied the story, as a publicist stated, “I can tell you that isn’t true, both your question about harassment and the threat of being fired.”

According to the Observer, there is also a claim that Del Rio called Carrano on the subject and Carrano went silent in the conversation.

Paige has gotten legal representation and according to the Observer, “nobody seems to know whether she’ll stay or go.”

Paige is under contract to WWE through 2019.
