WWE Star Recovering From Wrist Surgery

On August 21 on SmackDown LIVE, Harper and Rowan lost the SmackDown Tag Team Championship to The New Day in a No Disqualification Match. WWE announced the following day that Rowan suffered a torn right bicep, sidelining him indefinitely. With Rowan out of action, Harper stopped appearing on television but continued wrestling at live events as a singles competitor. He worked just over 10 singles matches at house shows, with his last match coming on October 1 in a victory over Tye Dillinger.

Like his tag team partner, Harper is injured as well. Stand-up comedian (and wrestling fan) Brad Williams (who is the small guy) tweeted a photo of the absent SmackDown LIVE Superstar backstage at his show in Rochester, New York on Saturday night. As you can see, Harper is wearing a cast on his left hand.

Dave Meltzer is reporting today in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Harper is recovering from wrist surgery. There’s no word yet on how Harper got injured or when he will return to the ring.

“Harper, who hasn’t been used at all since Rowan tore his right biceps in August and needed surgery, is recovering from wrist surgery,” Meltzer wrote.

“They had nothing for him once Rowan got hurt. There is never a good time for an injury but the Rowan injury came at a bad time because those two had spent a lot of time really doing nothing and had just started getting a major push as monster tag team champions when Rowan’s injury happened.”

Meltzer reported last month that there was a pitch from a member of WWE’s creative team to reunite Harper and Bray Wyatt. Wyatt has not appeared on WWE television since Matt Hardy transitioned to a producer role in early August.

During Raw, Harper appeared to vent on his spot in WWE with these cryptic tweets.

Wyatt responded to Harper’s “I’m a team player” tweet with the following.

Harper retweeted Wyatt’s remark, which should lead to more speculation on the two reuniting.
