WWE’s Current Plan For The Top Women’s Match At WrestleMania 35

WrestleMania 35

There’s a story going around saying that Charlotte Flair was promised she would be in the main event of WrestleMania 35. Anyone that knows how WWE works knows that Vince McMahon would never make a promise like that.

In the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer confirmed that the story going around is not true. Furthermore, WWE’s original plan was not for Ronda Rousey to be in the main event either. Roman Reigns who was going to get top billing on the show but that changed when he got his leukemia diagnosis in October.

The belief is that his opponent would have been Dean Ambrose. The Ambrose heel turn would have probably been on Reigns and not Seth Rollins.

At one point, Natalya vs. Rousey was going to be the top women’s match, but the idea to have Natalya turn heel was scrapped when her father, Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart, passed away in August. Then it was expected that Rousey vs. Flair would be the top women’s match but that plan changed when Lynch got super hot and the Survivor Series match between Lynch and Rousey had to be changed due to the concussion.

As of this week, Lynch vs. Rousey is set for WrestleMania but WWE has not decided if that will be the main event and that decision probably won’t be made until they get close to show time. There is still a possibility that it will be turned into a Triple Threat Match to include Flair. WWE had her attack Rousey at Survivor Series to give the company three “super over women.”
