– The Atlanta Journal Constitution recently spoke with AJ Styles for Tuesday’s WWE SmackDown tapings in Atlanta. The full interview is at this link. Below are highlights:
Making it to WWE:
โI know I took the long route to get here, but it was worth it. The timing was perfect when it came to my career. And Iโm ready to be that WWE superstar.โ
What he looks forward to when coming off the road:
โI have four kids and a wife, and I love them. The first thing I want to do when I come back into town is get home, and hug them and squeeze them. I have a 1-year-old daughter, and sheโs amazing. So I just want to get home, take them out to dinner and have that family atmosphere. โฆ Thereโs nothing like spending time with your family at home. Thatโs the life that I live. To me, thereโs only one thing more important than my family and thatโs God. The rest is all them.โ
His reception in the WWE locker room:
โI didnโt expect (the wrestlers) to be so open to me coming in. These guys bust their tails and made a lot of sacrifices to be here. And here comes this guy out of nowhere. Sometimes youโll walk into a locker room and youโll get, โWhatโs that guy doing here?โ In WWE, itโs not like that at all. They literally welcomed me with open arms. I canโt describe how great the locker room is. This is why the WWE is successful, because they have a locker room that gets it done. These guys get it and understand, and theyโre ready to get out there and work. They know weโre in the entertainment business, and they respect what Iโve done. You donโt see that everywhere.โ
