After losing a one-on-one match to longtime friend and tag team partner Heath Slater during Monday Night Raw, Rhyno was fired from the red brand, per a stipulation ordered by “General Manager-Elect” Baron Corbin.
Informing both WWE Superstars that cuts would be needed for the Raw roster, Corbin scheduled a match pitting the former SmackDown Tag Team Champions against one another. Slater, unable to risk losing everything that heโs built for his family in recent years, defeated his friend to force the veteran wrestler to leave Raw.
Following the match, Dasha Fuentes tried to get some comments from Rhyno while he was leaving the arena. “The Man Beast,” however, refused to speak.
So has Rhyno wrestled his last match for WWE?
Probably not.
According to John Pollock of POSTWrestling.com, Rhyno is not leaving WWE as this retirement angle is part of an ongoing storyline.
“The angle from Mondayโs episode of Raw involving Heath Slater and Rhyno is just that, Rhyno is not retiring or leaving the company as this will play into a story,” Pollock wrote.
Dave Meltzer also noted on F4WOnline.com that Rhyno’s retirement is just a storyline.
Bryan Alvarez noted on Wrestling Observer Live that Rhyno is still scheduled to wrestle at house shows.
โAll I can tell you is Rhyno is still booked for house shows,โ Alvarez said. โIf heโs being fired or if heโs retiring, itโs not happening anytime soon, so thatโs that.โ
