When it comes to wrestling, she has primarily competed for AEW’s sister promotion, Ring of Honor (ROH), since 2023.

In addition to wrestling for AEW and ROH, she works behind-the-scenes as a coach for their respective women’s divisions.

She was born Ashley Nichole Simmons on February 5, 1986 (age 39) in Columbus, Ohio, United States. In 2015, she married Joshua Matthew Lomberger and became known as Ashley Nichole Lomberger. Her nickname is The Queen Bee.

Rayne is also known for her multiple stints with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) from 2009 to 2022. She won the Knockouts World Championship five times and the Knockouts World Tag Team Championship three times.

Prior to gaining fame in TNA in 2009, Madison Rayne wrestled for various independent promotions under the ring name Ashley Lane. One of those promotions includes Shimmer Women Athletes (aka SHIMMER), a Chicago-based women’s wrestling promotion founded by Dave Prazak. Lane was part of a tag team with Nevaeh and they became the inaugural Shimmer Tag Team Champions on October 19, 2008, beating The Canadian Ninjas (Nicole Matthews and Portia Perez). They held the titles until May 3, 2009, losing it to Matthews and Perez.

SHIMMER held its first event on November 6, 2005, at the Eagles Club in Berwyn, Illinois. In celebration of the 20th anniversary of SHIMMER, Rayne posted photos from her time in the promotion on X on November 7, 2025.

Rayne wrote, “I’m a day late but want to share in the love and celebration of yesterday’s 20th Anniversary of SHIMMER. @DavePrazak gave me opportunities that no doubt gave my career a rapid jump start. I’m forever grateful for those moments, memories and lessons (purple and black heart emojis).”

Ashley Lane returned to SHIMMER in July 2017, scoring victories over Taeler Hendrix and Veda Scott.

In November 2017, Ashley Lane formed a tag team with Deonna Purrazzo and they were known as The Hottest Free Agents. They defeated Blue Nation (Charli Evans and Jessica Troy) on November 11 at Volume 97. The following day, The Hottest Free Agents lost to the Totally Tubular Tag Team (Delilah Doom and Leva Bates) in a tag team match for the Shimmer Tag Team Championship.

TNA Knockouts Champion Madison Rayne was on fire after beating both Tara and Roxxi and sending them each to an early retirement. She was looking to do the same to Angelina Love in this title vs career match with Rayne’s title and Love’s career on the line. After giving birth to her daughter in August 2013, Madison Rayne returned to TNA Wrestling in December 2013 and took part in this winter-themed photo shoot.
