– WWE Intercontinental Champion Ryback recently spoke with The Argus Leader to promote Saturday’s WWE live event in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The full interview is at this link. Below are some highlights:
Benching up to 550 pounds and lifting heavy Superstars:
โThere arenโt many guys that Iโm not capable of picking them up. Itโs a pretty incredible thing and Iโm very thankful for it. Itโs not easy; itโs a totally different ballgame lifting a human body like Mark Henry and The Big Show compared to a barbell or dumbbell. But the weight training has prepared me for opportunities like that.โ
Respecting old school wrestling history:
โBeing a part of this (WWE), Iโm thankful for everybody that has come before me. They laid the groundwork for what we have here now in the WWE. If it wasnโt for the (Fabulous) Freebirds, the Von Erichโs and guys of that nature who put their heart and soul into this, then we wouldnโt have the opportunity to be WWE Superstars.โ
Returning to defend his title at SummerSlam and what’s next:
โObviously, being the Intercontinental Champion is a huge responsibility. The next step, and itโs solely on my shoulders now, is to take this momentum and carry it into the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, eventually. So Iโm taking it as a challenge, and Iโm loving every second of it.โ
