Paige Announces Triple Threat Match To Help Determine The New Day’s Next Challengers

The New Day

The road to a SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match at WWE Hell in a Cell begins this Tuesday on SmackDown LIVE when Gallows and Anderson, The Bar and The Colons square off in a Triple Threat Match.

SmackDown LIVE General Manager Paige announced Sunday via Twitter that this will be the first of two Triple Threat Matches, with the winners battling for the right to challenge for the titles at WWE Hell in a Cell on Sunday, September 16.

Gallows and Anderson and The Bar were involved in a heated backstage confrontation last Tuesday, with the two teams both looking to establish themselves as top contenders to the titles.

Primo and Epico Colon come into the match as wildcards as they look to get back on track in the tag team division. This will be Epico’s return to action since undergoing shoulder surgery in January. Although Epico and Primo last wrestled together on January 21 at a WWE live event, they have not wrestled together on television in over a year. Their last TV appearance together took place on June 13, 2017, where they teamed with The Usos in a loss to Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston, and Breezango on SmackDown LIVE.

WWE originally announced a tag team match pitting Gallows and Anderson against Cesaro and Sheamus for SmackDown LIVE. Charlotte Flair defending her Women’s Championship against Carmella is also set for tomorrow’s show.

After Rowan suffered a torn right biceps at SummerSlam, Woods and Kingston beat The Bludgeon Brothers in a No Disqualification Match to win the SmackDown Tag Team Championship.
