WWE Purchases Mid-South Wrestling Video Collection, Plans for Future DVD

By Marc Middleton on 06/10/2012

- WWE has acquired the Watts video library which consists of Mid-South Wrestling, Mid-South's Power Pro Wrestling TV and the original Universal Wrestling Federation. The library was owned by Bill Watts' ex-wife Ene as part of a divorce settlement and was the largest known video collection not owned by WWE.

WWE has held numerous meetings and made several attempts to purchase the library but the two sides never were able to come to terms until now. WWE wanted the additional footage in their archives as they plan for the WWE Network to launch.

There are already plans to do a DVD documentary on Mid-South as well. There are also discussions about doing DVD's on Ted DiBiase, Hacksaw Jim Duggan and Junkyard Dog, all who were major stars for Mid-South.
