Rowan Scheduled To Undergo Surgery After Suffering Injury At SummerSlam

The New Day may have technically scored the win at SummerSlam, but there was no celebration. After a brutal mallet assault from SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Bludgeon Brothers, Big E and Xavier Woods were declared the victors by disqualification, leaving the Barclays Center with bruises, but no titles.

Unfortunately for Rowan, he suffered an injury during the match.

PWInsider.com’s Mike Johnson reported last night that Rowan injured his arm during the match and the initial word is that he tore his biceps. F4WOnline.com’s Dave Meltzer has confirmed that Rowan tore his biceps, but doesn’t know which arm.

In an update on the situation, Johnson is reporting that the word backstage today at SmackDown LIVE at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York is that Rowan will travel to Birmingham, Alabama later this week to undergo surgery on his torn biceps.

Rowan did not work last night’s WWE live event Atlantic City, New Jersey. His tag team partner, Harper, lost to Karl Anderson in a singles match (with Luke Gallows accompanying Anderson at ringside).

WWE has announced that Rowan and Harper will defend the SmackDown Tag Team Championship against The New Day in a No Disqualification Match tonight on SmackDown LIVE. According to Johnson, Rowan is currently backstage at the Barclays Center, although it’s unclear if he’ll still wrestle as originally planned.
