Why Didn’t Stacy Keibler Pose Nude For Playboy?

At more than 41 inches in length, Stacy Keibler’s legs seem to go on forever. Just like her entrance theme suggests, she certainly knows how to use them.

A former Baltimore Ravens cheerleader, Keibler broke into professional wrestling by winning a nationwide contest held by World Championship Wrestling (WCW) designed to find a new Nitro Girl. Within months of her debut, it was clear that the Maryland native was destined to become much more than a member of an ensemble dance team. She soon broke free from the Nitro Girls to become a valet known as Miss Hancock.

After the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now known as WWE) acquired WCW, Keibler remained loyal to her roots and joined The Alliance alongside talent from Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW). While the faction was largely despised, the beautiful newcomer gained popularity with WWF fans.

Keibler’s managerial efforts saw her guide the careers of Bubba Ray Dudley and D-Von Dudley. Known as “The Duchess of Dudleyville,” she often  distracted her team’s opposition. The sexy ploy carried The Dudley Boyz to numerous victories, but when it resulted in a loss, the duo drove Keibler through a table to end their relationship.

Keibler’s managerial efforts also landed her by the side of Scott Steiner and Test, but it was her in-ring action that truly excited fans. On March 14, 2004, Keibler wrestled in the biggest match of her career when she teamed up with Miss Jackie against Sable and Torrie Wilson in the Playboy Evening Gown Match at WrestleMania XX. Despite never gracing the pages of Playboy, her participation made it one of the pay-per-view event’s most memorable matches.

Keibler said in a 2013 interview with Sam Roberts on SiriusXM that she “was offered a few times” to pose nude for Playboy.

“It was just something that I wasn’t interested in doing,” Keibler told Roberts.

Keibler did admit that “it’s a hard thing to say no to.”

Playboy‘s request for Keibler to pose nude dates back to 2003 or 2004.

“I can tell you point-blank that they have asked me the last two years to do it and I’ve said no,” Keibler said in a 2005 interview. “It’s just a personal thing. At this point in my life and career, it’s something I don’t want to do.”

Eric Bischoff, who worked alongside Keibler in WWE and WCW, said in August 2022 on his 83 Weeks podcast that she requested his opinion on posing for Playboy.

“Stacy came to me and she wanted my opinion,” Bischoff said while discussing his time with WWE in 2004.

“I was like, ‘OK, how’s your dad gonna to handle it? It ain’t gonna bother you at all, but how’s your dad gonna handle it? Because he still goes to work every day.’ And then she went, ‘Oh yeah, you’re right.’ That was the end of it. What was I supposed to say, ‘Sure baby, I can’t wait to get a look at those legs!'”

In June 2008, Keibler shot down a report by TMZ that claimed she lobbied to do a nude scene in the American independent romantic drama film Mercy in which she would expose her breasts.

“I got an offer for the movie Mercy, and then they asked if I was comfortable with nudity, and I said, ‘No, I’m actually not,'” Keibler told Kevin Eck of The Baltimore Sun. “So I just politely declined because they really were adamant about the nudity part of that, and I was just like, ‘I’m sorry. That’s just not something I’m interested in exploring at this time.’

“I’ve been offered to do Playboy and things over and over again. Why would I do something like that for this small little movie? It was basically just a simple phone call, and I was like, ‘Thank you, but no thank you.’ The other thing is that I have a deal with ABC and Disney, and I have to go to them and get approval on everything I do. That’s just not even something that we would take to them.”

Keibler said she laughed when she found out about the story on TMZ.

“Anyone that knows me or knows my personality should have laughed at that just as I did,” Keibler said. “I don’t know if it was just a small little movie that wanted to get some publicity, so they threw something out there or what. I think it’s just a clear example that you can’t believe everything you read.”

Although Keibler declined to pose for Playboy, she had no problem taking off her clothes for art.

Keibler posed nude for an art coffee table book by fashion photographer Raphael Mazzucco called Culo (which translates to “buttocks”). It is a 248-page coffee table book featuring nude backside-inspired photographs and art pieces by Mazzucco. The book, which rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs and Interscope co-founder Jimmy Lovine edited, was released in November 2011.

Keibler would also pose naked in 2014 for People‘s annual “50 Most Beautiful” issue.

“It’s liberating; I feel so powerful,” Keibler said.
