Injury Update On Sting, Why He Didn’t Appear On Raw Last Night

Sting

Despite indications that he had suffered a major injury the night before at Night of Champions on Sunday, WWE.com still posted on its site that “The Vigilante” Sting would be appearing on Raw to open the show with a “major announcement.”

That never happened, though, as WWE’s flagship program began with Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper, and Braun Strowman in the ring, followed by Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, and Randy Orton.

There was reportedly some miscommunication on WWE’s part, according to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio. TMZ.com reported earlier in the day that Sting was at home resting prior to WWE.com’s update.

Sting was not at Raw last night, as he was indeed at his home in Dallas, nearly six hours away from the site of the show.

Meltzer adds that the former WCW World Heavyweight Champion is not currently booked to compete at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view, with his status with the company now up in the air.

It was noted shortly after the pay-per-view went off the air that Sting may have injured his neck or spinal cord.

“He was taken to the hospital for tests after the show,” Meltzer states. “He was able to walk, but he was not doing well.”

Tests came back showing no breaks, with Meltzer reporting “The MRI showed no fractures.”
However, Sting’s career could still be done. WWE are reluctant to have another Jerry Lawler situation, and Meltzer says he thinks WWE are “going to be leery.”
