IYO SKY beat her former friend turned rival Asuka in an emotional match-up at WWE Backlash on May 9, 2026. After the match, an emotional Asuka embraced SKY before thanking the fans in attendance at the Benchmark International Arena in Tampa, Florida. Following the show, SKY addressed the match in a post on X, calling it the final chapter of their story.

“Our story comes to its final chapter with today’s match, ” SKY wrote (translation from Japanese).

“The moment the match ended, my heart was filled with all sorts of emotions.

“Meeting ASUKA-san, Spending the same time together, Being able to learn so much up close— These are irreplaceable treasures to me. Thank you so much ASUKA-San

“We love you ASUKA-San.”

Sane wore the mask for her entrance at WWE Crown Jewel, in which she teamed up with Asuka against SKY and Rhea Ripley in a tag team match.

SKY is a former WWE Women’s Champion and a former Women’s World Champion, having held both titles once. She is also a former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion, having held the title twice with Dakota Kai.

Her real name is Masami Odate (大館昌美, Ōdate Masami) and she was born on May 8, 1990 (age 36) in Kamakura, Kanagawa, Japan. She previously wrestled in Japan and WWE’s NXT brand under the ring name Io Shirai (紫雷 イオ, Shirai Io). Her WWE nickname is The Genius of The Sky.
