Latest Update On Alexa Bliss’ Status For WWE Evolution

Alexa Bliss’ match at WWE Evolution this Sunday very much appears to be in jeopardy since the former Raw Women’s Champion is injured.

“The Goddess” did not appear as advertised at Sunday’s WWE live event in Boston, Massachusetts. Tamina took her place in a tag team match partnering with Mickie James against Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey and Nia Jax — Tamina and James lost.

There are rumors that Rousey broke Alexa’s nose the night before, at a live event in Hartford, Connecticut — Bliss and James lost to Rousey and Jax in a tag team match. This is according to multiple fans on Twitter who went to the show.

Paul Davis of WrestlingNews.co was told that Bliss did not suffer a broken nose. Rather, Alexa suffered a concussion and was checked by the doctor backstage at Raw on Monday afternoon. She was not cleared to wrestle.

We heard after Raw that Alexa did indeed suffer a concussion over the weekend and that her status for Evolution is up in the air since she wasn’t able to pass WWE’s ImPACT test, which measures the effects of a concussion through cognitive tests. The test was actually taken on Saturday since she flew home after the show.

In an update on the situation, Bliss wrestling at Evolution hasn’t been completely ruled out. John Pollock of POST Wrestling reported on Tuesday that WWE is “optimistic” that she will work the show. Mike Johnson of PWInsider added today that Alexa was not at Raw on Monday because “WWE wanted to make sure she was OK” for Evolution. Johnson, however, has not heard anything on her being cleared for the show.

Wrestling Observer Newsletter editor Dave Meltzer also said last night on Twitter that nobody knows if she’ll be cleared to wrestle at Evolution.

WWE’s backup plan for Bliss if she is unable to compete this Sunday will be for Alicia Fox to team up with Mickie James against Trish Stratus and Lita. WWE staged an angle on Raw last night where Fox and James instigated a brawl with Stratus and Lita during a backstage interview with Charly Caruso.
