– Dave Meltzer reports in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter published today that of all the non-main event talent in WWE, Vince McMahon is very high on Baron Corbin and sees him as a future major player.
“It should be noted that of all the non-main event talent in WWE right now, Vince is still highest on Corbin as a future major player,” Meltzer wrote. “Then again, coming off WrestleMania last year, the idea was to give Corbin his new music and go heavy with him, and they didn’t pull that trigger.”
According to Meltzer, advertising for Extreme Rules on July 15 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania has Corbin competing in a Triple Threat Match against AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura with the WWE Championship on the line. Meltzer adds that with this match being advertised so far in advance, it may mean nothing, but does indicate it was at least the plan at some point.
