Ronda Rousey Headlining WrestleMania Next Year?

Ronda Rousey

Ronda Rousey showed no mercy against Stephanie McMahon in her WWE in-ring debut as she forced the Raw Commissioner to tap out in a ferocious Mixed Tag Team Match.

Rousey has drawn rave reviews for her debut match and according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE officials have talked about Rousey competing in the main event of next year’s WrestleMania from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

According to Meltzer, some WWE personalities were interviewing women trying to get them to say that Rousey should have been in the main event of this year’s WrestleMania.

Despite Charlotte Flair’s shocking title loss to Carmella on last night’s episode of SmackDown LIVE, she appears to be Rousey’s most likely opponent for the show taking place on April 7, 2019.

As for Asuka, WWE had plans on Rousey facing “The Empress of Tomorrow” at some point, but that appears to be off the table now. Meltzer said that when Rousey was signed, Asuka was told to always use the armbar as her finisher. Not only did Asuka lose her undefeated streak to Charlotte this past Sunday, but Asuka was told not to use the armbar in the match.

It is not known what Rousey’s next match will be, but she is scheduled to appear at WWE live event at Madison Square Garden on July 7. She is also featured in advertising for this year’s SummerSlam and Survivor Series pay-per-views events.
