Backstage Insight On How Vince McMahon Wants To Present Braun Strowman On Television

Braun Strowman

Braun Strowman could be matched up with Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 32, a report has claimed.

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com, there is a ‘strong push’ for the singles encounter behind the scenes.

Strowman, who has yet to lose, has been mostly utilized in multi-person tag matches alongside stablemates Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan since his debut on the main roster the night after SummerSlam.

While answering some reader questions on Friday, Johnson said that while the match is not locked in, Vince McMahon is so behind Strowman that it could happen. He also offered some insight from behind the scenes on how McMahon wants to present Strowman on television.

Is it true you guys reported Braun Strowman vs. The Undertaker for WrestleMania is a lock?

No, that was never, ever reported. What was discussed in audio shows in the Elite section was that there was a push for that match for Mania and that Vince McMahon is very much behind Strowman and is heavily involved in how he is being presented and pushed. We’ve reported that it’s obvious that the Wyatts were being put so strongly over the Dudleys to build them for Lesnar, but we never said Strowman vs. Brock was 100% locked in. We said that Vince is so behind him that it could very well happen. Anyone crediting that to PWInsider would be incorrect. It could quite possibly be Brock vs. Bray or Brock vs. Luke Harper etc.

Don’t you think such a match would be far too high profile for Strowman if such?

It might very well be. Strowman is very limited right now, but we hear from people within the company that he’s very much improving and is also presented the way that Vince McMahon wants him to be presented right now, so he’s not showcasing everything he can due to the nature of the character. The lack of experience isn’t a factor if WWE believes they can build and make money with him. Plus, he’s never going to get experience if they don’t put him in situations where he gets it.

It just seems to me like Strowman comes off so awkward in the ring and even going down to take bumps, he seems off. Am I losing my mind here in wondering why WWE would make such a potential investment in him?

No, you aren’t but you aren’t taking into account that again, we are told the character is only supposed to show how mighty he is, not show any sort of weakness, to the point he can’t be knocked down, can’t show any sign of being weakened with punches and kicks, etc. If you watch closely, in recent weeks, he doesn’t even bend down to grab opponents. It’s all how he’s being portrayed and those are edicts from WWE management, right on down from Vince McMahon.
