WWE Interim Women’s Champion Chelsea Green is sporting a black eye after suffering a broken orbital bone in her right eye during SmackDown on August 7, 2026. Just days after winning the title at SummerSlam, she sustained the injury in a tag team match and said the following day in an Instagram video that she had to visit the emergency room.

Green has been sharing photos on Instagram Stories revealing the progress of her black eye and she posted this image on the morning of August 14 from her hotel room in Boston, Massachusetts before heading to the TD Garden for SmackDown.

The injury happened during a tag team match featuring Interim WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green and Women’s United States Champion Tiffany Stratton against WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Fatal Influence (Lainey Reid and Fallon Henley). Click here to see highlights from this match. It’s unclear when the injury occurred as Green only said that she got hurt during the match.

The injury happened during a tag team match featuring Interim WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green and Women’s United States Champion Tiffany Stratton against WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Fatal Influence (Lainey Reid and Fallon Henley). On August 8, 2026, Green confirmed the diagnosis in a video post on Instagram. She mentioned dealing with head trauma, stating she was incredibly frustrated and taking things day-by-day.

She was born Chelsea Anne Green on April 4, 1991 (age 35) in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. After marrying fellow wrestler Matt Cardona on December 31, 2021, she became known as Chelsea Anne Cardona.
