Carmella (aka Leah Van Dale, Mella Is Money, The Most Beautiful Woman in all of WWE and The Princess of Staten Island) is an American professional wrestler, former cheerleader for the New England Patriots and former Laker Girl under contract to WWE. Check out these hot photos of Carmella.
Despite calling herself “The Princess of Staten Island,” Carmella possesses enough New York grit for all five boroughs. Her fabulous debut in October 2014 put the entire NXT women’s locker room on notice, as Carmella displayed a potent submission move in a decisive win over Blue Pants.
Carmella gained valuable experience in 2015, competing against Alexa Bliss, Emma, and Eva Marie. In July 2016, Carmella got drafted to SmackDown and made an immediate impact. She won the first-ever Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match, and after holding on to her championship-opportunity briefcase for nearly a year, cashed in on Charlotte Flair to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship two nights after WrestleMania 34.
Despite her incredible achievements, Carmella ruthlessly reemerged on SmackDown with an “untouchable” persona, making it clear that her best days still lay ahead. If that wasn’t enough, the stunning Superstar then became the self-professed “Most Beautiful Woman in All of WWE” and took her talents to Raw.
For her matches, Carmella began wearing a protective face mask that assistants would provide at ringside. On Raw on November 22, 2021, Carmella and Queen Zelina defeated Nikki A.S.H and Rhea Ripley to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship.
On night two of WrestleMania 38, Carmella and Zelina lost the titles to Naomi and Sasha Banks in a Fatal 4-Way Match, which also included the team of Natalya and Shayna Baszler, as well as the team of Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley. Following the loss, the partnership between Carmella and Zelina became fractured beyond repair as the two could no longer coexist. The royal Superstar went on the attack the following night on Raw, but “The Most Beautiful Woman in WWE” found herself right at home in the warm embrace of her soon-to-be husband.
Carmella and Graves got married on April 7, 2022. “The Most Beautiful Woman in WWE” returned to action on June 20, 2022, defeating Bliss, Asuka, Lynch and Morgan on Raw to earn the right to face Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair. The two faced off at Money in the Bank on July 2, 2022, as Carmella lost to “The EST of WWE.” Shortly thereafter, Carmella took another hiatus from WWE.
Carmella returned on the January 30, 2023 episode of Raw and began referring to herself again as “Mella Is Money.” The following week on Raw, Carmella defeated Candice LeRae, Mia Yim, and Piper Niven in a Fatal 4-Way Match to qualify for the women’s Elimination Chamber Match at Elimination Chamber on February 18, 2023. Carmella failed to win the match after tapping out to Asuka’s Asuka Lock.
Carmella then formed a partnership with Chelsea Green, but disappeared from television again in March. Carmella revealed on May 1, 2023 that she is expecting her first child, with Graves.
Carmella announced her pregnancy on Good Morning America, sharing that she found out the news in March.
“It’s just all been such a whirlwind,” Carmella said. “I think because of my past, it was hard to get excited off the bat about this one, but I was cautiously optimistic. I try to have a good mindset, a positive mindset this time around, and it’s working. So I’m very happy about that.”
Carmella experienced two miscarriages in 2022, in September and October. Nevertheless, she said this pregnancy has “been really good” so far and is due in November. She also discussed Graves’ excitement at welcoming their new addition to the family, saying he did not expect the news at all.
“He was completely shocked and surprised,” Carmella said. “He was so excited, and from the get-go when I told him, we both just really tried to have such a positive outlook on it.”
Carmella took a break from wrestling after her miscarriage to focus on healing, which gave her a chance to spend quality time with her family.
“I think I’ve just focused so much on my career in the last 10 years that it made me forget the importance of life, and made me forget what truly matters,” Carmella said. “And at the end of the day, that’s family … that time afforded me more quality time with my family, with my stepchildren. I got the opportunity to get to know them on a level that I never knew them before.”
