Sting May Not Be Wrestling At SummerSlam

Sting

Any plans for “The Icon” Sting to compete at SummerSlam are now apparently off.

Original reports had Sting wrestling in a tag team bout during the pay-per-view, aligning with Roman Reigns against the tandem of Luke Harper and Bray Wyatt. Dean Ambrose was also expected to be involved, but that depended heavily on The Wyatt Family getting a new member to replace an injured Erick Rowan.

PWInsider.com is now reporting that as of Tuesday afternoon, WWE executives not planning on Sting being a part of the card.

The belief backstage amongst WWE talent is that Sting will in fact compete, possibly teaming with actor Stephen Amell against the duo of Stardust and The Miz, with Sting being a vigilante just like Amell’s character on The CW show Arrow.

Others believe The Wyatt Family bout will still come to fruition, although it’s merely speculation as Sting more than likely won’t be at Barclays Center for the show.
