WWE Announces Rusev’s Status For Elimination Chamber

Rusev

Update: Rusev has officially been scratched from the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view, WWE announced shortly before Sunday’s event.

Rusev was scheduled for the Intercontinental Title Elimination Chamber Match, but WWE says Rusev has “not been medically cleared to compete” after suffering a reported injury at Tuesday’s SmackDown taping.

WWE did not announce who will replace Rusev in the Intercontinental Title Elimination Chamber Match.

Former WWE United States Champion Rusev suffered a lower leg injury during a match with Ryback at the May 26 Smackdown taping.

The Bulgarian Brute is scheduled to be one of six competitors (Ryback, R-Truth, King Barrett, Dolph Ziggler and Sheamus) vying for the vacant WWE Intercontinental Championship tonight at Elimination Chamber.

The title was vacated by former champion Daniel Bryan after he revealed he wasn’t medically cleared to perform for the foreseeable future.

PWInsider.com is reporting this morning that Rusev will appear at the pay-per-view in some capacity, although whether or not he’ll be performing remains to be seen.

If Rusev is pulled from the match, Bray Wyatt is rumored to be his replacement.

In a sign of things to come, Rusev has been removed from upcoming WWE Live Events, indicating how serious the injury may be.
