Carmella was initially announced as the replacement challenger against Bianca Belair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship after Sasha Banks was unable to compete. However, before the match could officially start, Becky Lynch made a surprise return, attacked Carmella, took her place in the match, and defeated Belair.
