WWE Issues Statement On Jerry “The King” Lawler

Jerry "The King" Lawler

Jerry Lawler will no appear on WWE programming on a regular basis.

“The King” was the color commentator on Monday Night Raw for years before moving to SmackDown in January 2015. Over the summer, he was removed from television and placed on the Raw Pre-Show and SmackDown Pre-Show on the WWE Network. WWE revamped the Raw Pre-Show this week, shortening it to 10 minutes with only Booker T and Charly Caruso serving as analysts.

411mania.com reached out to WWE for clarification on Lawler and learned that “The King” is, in fact, no longer a part of the WWE on-air product, although he is still with the company in other capacities.

Jerry Lawler has a Legends agreement with WWE, however, he will no longer regularly appear on our pre-shows. He will continue to host special events, including WWE’s annual Hall of Fame celebration at WrestleMania.

On Twitter, Lawler said “no more pre-show.”

Lawler doesn’t appear too happy about the change. He re-tweeted the following fan messages complaining about his removal.
