NXT Superstar Jessie Elaban Gets A New Name

Jessie

NXT Superstar Jessie Elaban (aka Jessica Elaban, Jessie) has undergone a name change.

The official website of the WWE Performance now has her listed as Jessi Kamea.

Elaban, who is 30 years old, earned a WWE developmental contract following a tryout in late 2016. Without any prior wrestling experience, she joined the WWE Performance Center about two years ago to begin training. Elaban made her in-ring debut in October 2017 and according to CAGEMATCH, has wrestled over 80 matches since then.

Standing 5-foot-10, the rangy and charismatic Elaban has been pegged as one to watch. After working exclusively at NXT live events, she made her WWE Network in-ring debut last summer, losing to fellow NXT Superstar Taynara Conti in the First Round of the Mae Young Classic.

Following the Mae Young Classic, Elaban continued working house shows as a smiling, plucky babyface.

Elaban competed on NXT television for the first time on May 15, taking on Vanessa Borne. Introduced simply as Jessie, she fell short in her first outing on NXT as Borne scored the three count after a corkscrew neckbreaker.

Prior to joining WWE, Elaban worked as a yoga instructor and played collegiate volleyball at Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa and Concordia University Texas in her hometown of Austin, Texas. Her bio from her time at Concordia University Texas can be seen here.
