Vince McMahon’s Current Plan For Brock Lesnar’s Opponent At WrestleMania 35

Brock Lesnar

Vince McMahon has plans mapped out for Brock Lesnar through WrestleMania 35.

The WWE Chairman and CEO has been in a “shaking up plans” mood of late and he is now planning on having Lesnar face Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 35, according to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter published today.

This would explain why Rollins mentioned Lesnar during a promo two weeks ago on Raw. Rollins said that Lesnar winning the Universal Championship a few days earlier at WWE Crown Jewel was a slap in the face to the fans and everyone in the locker room.

Lesnar’s next scheduled match takes place on January 27, 2019, at the Royal Rumble, where he will defend the Universal Championship against Braun Strowman. Strowman is undergoing elbow surgery soon (if he hasn’t already), but the feeling is that he will be ready for the match. Meltzer wasn’t directly told if Lesnar will beat Strowman again.

WWE plans on bringing up Roman Reigns’ battle with leukemia in storylines going forward and according to Meltzer, the Lesnar vs. Rollins feud will play off that in some fashion.

Lesnar and Rollins faced off in a singles match once before, in July 2015 at WWE Battleground with Rollins defending the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Lesnar won the match via disqualification after The Undertaker made a surprise appearance and attacked Lesnar. Rollins talked about facing Lesnar again during a radio interview in July 2017 and he’d probably say the same thing today.

“If it were up to me, it would be tomorrow, ya know? But you got to wait for those title shots,” Rollins said. “Our champion currently is Brock Lesnar on Raw — our Universal Champion — and he is a force to be reckoned win. He is also somebody who chooses to defend his title and fight on his own time. So you really gotta be kind of lucky to land those title shots.”
