Asuka To Be Added To The SmackDown Women’s Championship Match At SummerSlam?

Could Asuka be added to the SmackDown Women’s Championship Match at SummerSlam?

As seen this week on SmackDown LIVE, General Manager Paige announced that Carmella and Charlotte Flair would square off on the show, and if Flair got the win, she would be added to the SmackDown Women’s Championship Match between Carmella and Becky Lynch at SummerSlam, making it a Triple Threat. With pressure on both competitors, Charlotte scored the win to transform the SmackDown Women’s Title showdown into a Triple Threat Match.

Now it seems Asuka could be added to the bout as well, making it a Fatal 4-Way Match.

According to a report by WrestlingNews.co, they were told earlier this week by a WWE source that “Asuka’s match for SummerSlam will be decided on in the next few days.”

Next Tuesday, SmackDown LIVE takes place at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. The venue is advertising a “double main event”: A match between Asuka and Carmella, as well as WWE Champion AJ Styles, Daniel Bryan and Jeff Hardy vs. United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura, The Miz, and Samoa Joe. WWE rarely holds two dark match main events, so what seems most likely is that Asuka will face Carmella on TV.

If this match does happen on TV, it’s a certainty that Asuka will beat Carmella to be added to the SmackDown Women’s Championship Match at SummerSlam.

Asuka was screwed out of the SmackDown Women’s Championship twice by James Ellsworth, so she has a legitimate claim to another title shot.

Asuka has only wrestled once on SmackDown LIVE since losing to Carmella at WWE Extreme Rules as she scored a dominant victory over Billie Kay last week.

Asuka did not appear at all on SmackDown LIVE this week.
