end of the year, the new Superstar gad defeated John Morrison for the Intercontinental Championship at WWE TLC: Tables,
Ladders & Chairs. As champion, McIntyre acted as if he ran SmackDown. And in a way, with Mr. McMahon in his
corner, he indirectly did. It wasn't uncommon to see decisions that didn't go in McIntyre's favor later reversed by the

in May 2010. The loss marked the end of his more than five-month reign, but more gold was right around the corner.

in a Thrilling Tag Team Turmoil Match.

Why was Drew McIntyre fired?
After losing to Matt Hardy on the June 25, 2010 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long informed Drew McIntyre that his work visa had expired and that he was immediately being deported to Scotland.
The storyline had a basis in reality, since McIntyre's visa had indeed expired. He was taken off television as a result.
McIntyre returned two weeks later and was re–instated after apologizing to Long. He qualified for SmackDown's Money in the Bank Ladder Match at Money in the Bank by defeating Kofi Kingston. He lost the Money in the Bank Ladder Match to Kane.
